Values follow the standard English Scrabble tile set. Only letters A–Z score; spaces, digits, and punctuation are ignored. Blank tiles (worth zero) and letter-bonus squares are not modeled.
How Scrabble scoring works
Every tile in the standard English Scrabble set carries a face value that reflects how common the letter is and how easy it is to play. The vowels and the most frequent consonants are worth a single point, while rare, hard-to-place letters like Q and Z are worth ten. Adding those values across the tiles in a word gives its base score.
Premium squares change the arithmetic. A double- or triple-word-score square multiplies the entire word’s tile total, which is why a short word on a triple can outscore a long one on plain squares. Use the multiplier option here to check that trade-off before you commit your tiles.

How are Scrabble letter values counted?
Each letter carries its standard English Scrabble value: A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R are worth 1; D and G are 2; B, C, M and P are 3; F, H, V, W and Y are 4; K is 5; J and X are 8; and Q and Z are 10. The calculator adds up the tiles in your word to get the base score.
What does the double- or triple-word-score option do?
A double-word-score square multiplies the whole word's tile total by two, and a triple-word-score square multiplies it by three. Pick the matching option and the final score updates. Letter-bonus squares (double/triple letter) aren't modeled, so add those by hand if you need them.
Does capitalization, spaces, or punctuation change the score?
No. The tool lower-cases everything and ignores anything that isn't a letter A–Z, so "Hello!" and "hello" score the same, and spaces or hyphens are skipped.
How are blank tiles handled?
Blank tiles are worth zero points in Scrabble. This calculator scores the letters you type, so if a letter in your word was actually played as a blank, subtract that letter's value from the total yourself.
Is this the same as the highest-scoring play on the board?
Not necessarily. This gives the raw tile score for a word plus an optional word multiplier. Real board scoring also includes letter-bonus squares, the 50-point bonus for using all seven tiles, and points from parallel words you form, none of which are calculated here.
