Terms of Service
Last updated: July 19, 2026
These terms cover using wordturn.com: the six word and language tools, the blog, the learn section, and the museum. Using the site means you agree to them.
What WordTurn Is
WordTurn is an independent, ad-supported reference site about words, word games, and writing. It is not a dictionary, a game server, or a word-list authority, and it is not affiliated with Scrabble or any word-game or dictionary publisher. The Scrabble Score Calculator, Word Counter, Syllable Counter, Readability Score, Pangram Checker, and Anagram Checker are free, browser-based tools built on standard letter values and well-known formulas applied to the text you enter.
Using the Tools
No account, sign-up, or payment is required to use any tool. Text you type into a tool is processed in your browser to produce a result; see the Privacy Policyfor what does and doesn’t leave your device. Results are estimates and heuristics based on standard conventions — tile values, a vowel-group syllable rule, the Flesch Reading Ease formula — not an official ruling on whether a word is valid in any particular game or dictionary.
Not Professional or Authoritative Advice
Nothing on WordTurn is a substitute for an official rulebook, an approved tournament word list, or professional editorial judgment. The syllable and readability tools in particular use approximations that can be wrong for individual words, and the anagram and pangram checkers compare letters without confirming that a string is a real word. The full reasoning is in the Disclaimer.
Acceptable Use
When using the site, you agree not to:
- Automate requests against the tools at a volume that degrades the site for other visitors
- Scrape, republish, or resell the site’s content or tool logic wholesale
- Attempt to bypass, disrupt, or probe the site’s security
- Submit deliberately false information through the contact or subscribe forms
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose
Content & Ownership
WordTurn’s own text, tool design, and site design belong to WordTurn. The museum and learn sections draw their entries, images, and facts from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, used under their respective public-domain and Creative Commons licenses — that content belongs to its original contributors, not to WordTurn. Scrabble and any other trademarks named for reference belong to their respective owners.
Ads & Affiliate Links
The site carries Google AdSense advertising and, on some tool and article pages, Amazon affiliate links. Both are disclosed in full in the Affiliate Disclosure. Ads and product links are served by third parties and are not endorsements by WordTurn.
No Warranty
The site, its tools, and its content are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We try to keep the tools correct and the guides current, but we don’t guarantee either.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, WordTurn isn’t liable for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its tools, including decisions made based on a tool result or an article.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time; the date above reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
